1. Tell us something about your background

I did my B Tech in Computer Science from NIT - Warangal and MS in System Science and Automation from IISc Bangalore. I was in INTEL for 7 years, worked as a Technical Manger and moved to Nvidia who are leaders in designing Embedded Graphic cards and Systems. In Nvidia, i was working for the Embedded Software group. Currently, I head the Technical group at Emertxe which is into Embedded Product development and Core Embedded Trainings.

2. Can you give the Freshers and Students, basic clarity on "Embedded Systems from a Freshers Perspective"?

Writing software (from start to the end) for the hardware embedded into a bigger system

3. What are the different Career path in Embedded Systems?
Telecom, Networking, Datacom, GSM, GPS, Robotics, Micro-controller based products, Industrial automation, Consumer electronics etc. are few areas within Embedded. Embedded Systems is anywhere and everywhere, where you find a intelligent product. To start with you will have to get into any one area mentioned above, later you can work towards your specific area of interest.

4. Why did you get into Trainings?

The main reason we are into trainings is because of our huge technical strength in Embedded Domain. Also since my IISc days, I always wanted to start a venture in Embedded Training which could deliver quality trainings the way I learned there, to those who haven't got opportunity to get in there. There are very few places which teaches Embedded the way it is supposed to be taught, with more of Hands-on and giving the audience the correct perspective.

5. Why Embedded is the Hottest area for Building a career?

Two main reasons; First is the demand of quality Engineers and Second is the Average Pay package is the highest in the IT Portfolio.

6. How do we plan for a career in Embedded Systems?

Planning starts by building the basics. Anyone who wants to build a career in Embedded Systems should build strong C Programming skills. Next step is to build your logic(Data Structures and Basic OS Internals), along with hands-on some basic hardware programming. The planning should start by working on C programming.

7. What are the essentials to become a good Embedded Engineer?

Passion for the subject is very important. Technically, they should be good in Embedded C, Data Structures and OS Internals (to be specific say, Linux Internals)

8. What is the projected Embedded market for the future?

Of the $3.25 billion design market in India in 2005, embedded software contributed to 78 percent at $2.53 billion and still growing exponentially; VLSI, 18 percent at $0.58 billion; and hardware/board design, 4 percent at $0.14 billion.(Figures from Frost and Sullivan.)
The research company projects that the design market in India will grow to 43 billion in 2015 with embedded software contributing to 84 percent at $36.34 billion; VLSI, 12 percent at $5.09 billion; hardware/board design, 4percent at $1.64 billion.

9. For a Student who is just out of College, from a Choice of Java, .NET and Embedded Systems; What are the reasons to choose Embedded for their Career path?

To answer the first question, this decision should be taken by the individuals themselves.

10. What is the best way to gain expertise in Embedded domain?

Project based Training and guidance under people who are experts in the Domain. Work on Projects

11. What are the important aspects to be taken care while joining a training institute in Embedded Systems?

First, make sure the Trainers are experienced in the subjects they train, since quality comes from them. Embedded cannot be taught properly and deeply by anyone who does not have working experience in this domain.
Avoid getting cheated by anyone who gives unnecessary claims of Job Guarantee, 100 % Job Guarantee does not exist and most of the companies who claim this are luring the students bu giving them false claims.
