Key Responsibilities
1. Academic Guidance and Counseling

Provide Individualized Counseling: Meet with students one-on-one to discuss their academic progress, goals, and any concerns they may have regarding their studies.

Course Selection Support: Help students choose courses that align with their academic goals, interests, and future career plans. Provide guidance on graduation requirements and prerequisites.

Develop Academic Plans: Work with students to create personalized academic plans, ensuring that they are on track to meet their academic objectives and are aware of any available resources to support them.

Monitor Academic Progress: Track and evaluate students' academic performance, providing interventions and support for students struggling with coursework. Offer advice on time management and study strategies.
2. Career and College Counseling

Career Guidance: Advise students on career exploration, helping them understand how their academic performance and coursework can relate to future career paths.

College and University Admissions: Provide information about higher education opportunities, including college admissions processes, application procedures, and scholarship opportunities. Assist students in selecting appropriate colleges and preparing application materials.

Test Preparation Support: Advise and guide students in preparing for standardized tests, including providing information about testing dates, study resources, and test-taking strategies.
3. Addressing Student Concerns and Challenges

Provide Emotional Support: Be available to listen to students’ academic concerns, stress, or personal challenges that may impact their academic performance.

Conflict Resolution: Help mediate conflicts that may arise between students, teachers, or other members of the academic community. Ensure that students’ voices are heard and that solutions are found to resolve issues in a constructive manner.

Monitor Student Well-being: Identify students at risk academically or emotionally, and work with relevant faculty, staff, and parents to provide the necessary support to help the student succeed.
4. Collaboration and Communication

Liaise with Teachers and Parents: Communicate with teachers and parents about students' academic progress, challenges, and achievements. Regularly provide updates and discuss strategies for student success.

Work with Educational Institutions: Stay updated on the latest academic programs, scholarships, and educational opportunities. Collaborate with educational institutions and organizations to bring relevant resources and opportunities to students.
5. Academic Workshops and Seminars

Conduct Workshops: Organize and lead workshops on study skills, time management, test preparation, career exploration, and other academic topics to empower students to succeed in their studies.

Seminars and Guest Speakers: Coordinate with guest speakers and organize seminars on various academic and career-related topics to provide students with valuable insights into various fields of study and career paths.
6. Record Keeping and Reporting

Maintain Student Records: Keep detailed and confidential records of students’ academic performance, counseling sessions, and any interventions or actions taken.

Report Academic Progress: Regularly prepare reports on student progress and areas of concern for academic review committees and school leadership.

Track Program Effectiveness: Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs and services, gathering feedback from students and faculty to continuously improve the academic counseling process.
