Job Description

Job Summary

The Cardiology Technician is responsible for assisting cardiologists in diagnosing and treating heart conditions. This role involves performing diagnostic tests, operating specialized equipment, and ensuring patient comfort and safety during procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnostic Testing:

Perform and monitor electrocardiograms (ECGs/EKGs), stress tests, Holter monitoring, and other non-invasive cardiac tests.
Prepare and assist patients during invasive procedures like cardiac catheterization and angiography (if applicable).

Equipment Operation and Maintenance:

Operate and calibrate cardiac testing equipment to ensure accuracy.
Maintain and troubleshoot equipment as needed.

Patient Care and Preparation:

Prepare patients for tests by explaining procedures, positioning them correctly, and attaching electrodes or other necessary devices.
Monitor patients' vital signs and report any abnormalities to the physician.

Record Keeping and Reporting:

Document test results accurately in the patient's medical records.
Provide preliminary observations to the cardiologist for further evaluation.

Collaboration and Communication:

Coordinate with medical staff to ensure seamless patient care.
Communicate effectively with patients, addressing their concerns with empathy and professionalism.

Compliance and Safety:

Adhere to hospital protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Ensure proper infection control measures are followed.

Qualifications

Education:

Diploma or Associate degree in Cardiac Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, or a related field.
Certification from a recognized body, such as Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) or equivalent, is preferred.

Experience:

Previous experience as a Cardiology Technician or in a related role is advantageous.

Skills:

Proficient in operating diagnostic cardiac equipment.
Strong analytical and observational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.

Work Environment

Hours: Full-time or part-time, depending on the facility's needs.
Setting: Hospitals, diagnostic centers, or cardiology clinics.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, assist patients during procedures, and handle equipment.
