Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service

Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner as they enter or approach the checkout counter.

Provide prompt, courteous, and efficient service to customers throughout the checkout process.

Respond to customer questions and concerns with patience, professionalism, and product knowledge.

Assist customers with locating items or referring them to other staff when needed.

Handle customer complaints or issues with empathy and escalate to management when necessary.
Cash Handling and Register Operations
-
Accurately process all customer transactions including cash, credit/debit cards, checks, gift cards, and coupons.

Issue receipts, refunds, and exchanges according to company policy.

Count money in the cash drawer at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.

Balance the cash register and report discrepancies to management.

Follow all procedures for loss prevention and store policies regarding cash handling.
Store Support

Keep checkout areas clean, organized, and well-stocked with necessary supplies such as bags, receipt paper, and pens.

Assist in restocking shelves, fronting merchandise, and maintaining store cleanliness when not assisting customers.

Help with opening and closing duties, including setting up registers and locking up when necessary.

Participate in inventory counts, seasonal floor changes, or store promotions as needed.
Compliance and Safety

Follow all store policies and procedures, including dress code, punctuality, and break policies.

Adhere to safety guidelines for handling transactions and interacting with customers.

Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, especially those related to alcohol, tobacco, or age-restricted sales if applicable.
