Job Overview:

The Converter Technician is responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of conversion machinery. The technician ensures that machines are operating efficiently to produce high-quality products while minimizing downtime and ensuring safety standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:

Machine Setup and Operation:
- Set up and operate conversion machines (e.g., slitter, rewinder, laminator, or extrusion machines) based on product specifications.
- Ensure proper feeding, winding, and cutting of materials to create finished products such as rolls, sheets, or other forms.
- Monitor machine performance during production to ensure the highest quality output.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts to keep machines running efficiently.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise with machines, including mechanical, electrical, or operational problems.
- Repair or replace defective parts promptly to minimize production downtime.
Quality Control:
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Perform various checks (e.g., thickness, width, tension) during production to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
- Adjust machine settings as needed to maintain product quality and consistency.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for self and colleagues.
- Ensure that all conversion equipment is compliant with safety and industry regulations.
- Report any safety hazards or concerns to supervisors or safety officers.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of machine settings, production output, and maintenance activities.
- Complete daily production reports, including machine performance, downtime, and product quality.
- Document any repairs or adjustments made to equipment.
Training and Team Collaboration:
- Assist in training new operators or technicians on machine setup and operation procedures.
- Collaborate with other technicians, supervisors, and team members to improve efficiency and resolve any operational issues.
Continuous Improvement:
- Suggest and implement process improvements to increase machine efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
- Participate in initiatives to optimize production flow and reduce operational costs.

Skills and Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in machinery operation or related field is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years in a technician role, particularly in a conversion, manufacturing, or production environment.
Technical Skills:
- Experience operating and maintaining conversion machinery (e.g., slitting, laminating, rewinding).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and product specifications.
- Knowledge of machine troubleshooting and repair techniques.
- Understanding of materials, including their properties and how they are processed (e.g., paper, film, plastic).
Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to identify and resolve issues with machinery or production processes.
Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain high levels of precision and quality in the conversion process.
Physical Stamina: Capable of standing for long periods and performing physical tasks, such as lifting and moving materials.
Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety standards and protocols for operating machinery in a production environment.
Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills for reporting issues and working with team members.
