Job Overview
A Cook/Chef is responsible for preparing authentic South Indian dishes while maintaining high standards of taste, hygiene, and presentation. The role involves menu planning, food preparation, kitchen management, and quality control to ensure customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
1. Food Preparation & Cooking
- Prepare and cook traditional South Indian dishes such as Dosa, Idli, Vada, Sambhar, Rasam, Pongal, Uttapam, and various chutneys.
- Maintain consistency in taste, texture, and presentation.
- Follow traditional cooking methods while also being open to innovation.
2. Kitchen Management & Hygiene
- Ensure the kitchen follows food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards.
- Store, handle, and prepare ingredients properly to maintain freshness and quality.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment and workstations.
3. Inventory & Stock Management
- Monitor stock levels of spices, ingredients, and raw materials.
- Coordinate with suppliers for fresh and high-quality ingredients.
- Reduce food wastage and manage cost-effective inventory control.
4. Menu Development & Quality Control
- Develop and refine authentic and fusion South Indian dishes.
- Maintain quality and portion control to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Adapt recipes to meet customer preferences and dietary restrictions.
5. Teamwork & Customer Interaction
- Work closely with kitchen staff and management to ensure smooth operations.
- Train junior chefs or kitchen assistants when necessary.
- Occasionally interact with customers to understand their taste preferences.
