Job Description

We are seeking to hire a technically skilled database administrator that is capable of holding positions of great responsibility. In this role, you'll be the first respondent to database problems that arise and carry out periodic maintenance and troubleshooting.

Qualification: BE/BTech/MCA
Experience: 1– 2 years
Salary: 20000 to 25000

Key Responsibilities

Database Management

Install, configure, and maintain databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL).
Monitor and manage database performance, ensuring high levels of availability and consistent performance.
Maintain database instances, ensuring appropriate settings are configured for optimum speed, reliability, and security.
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues to ensure high system uptime.
Perform routine database maintenance, such as updates and patches to ensure the systems are secure and up to date.

Database Security and Compliance

Implement database security policies, ensuring data confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
Regularly review and manage access controls and user roles to ensure compliance with internal security standards and regulatory requirements.
Conduct audits of database activity and performance, ensuring compliance with organizational and legal data protection requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
Encrypt sensitive data where necessary and ensure proper data sanitization in line with organizational policies.

Backup, Recovery, and Disaster Recovery

Design and implement backup and disaster recovery plans, ensuring business continuity in the event of system failure or data loss.
Regularly test and validate database backup and recovery procedures to ensure quick restoration of databases in case of failure.
Monitor the health and integrity of backups, taking proactive actions to avoid data loss.

Performance Tuning and Optimization

Monitor and optimize the performance of databases, ensuring that queries are running efficiently.
Identify bottlenecks, performance issues, and areas for improvement, recommending or implementing solutions.
Use profiling and query optimization tools (e.g., SQL Profiler, EXPLAIN plans) to optimize SQL queries and database performance.
Ensure databases are highly available by implementing and managing features like replication, clustering, and load balancing.

Database Design and Support

Work with application developers to design and optimize database schemas and queries to support application development.
Provide recommendations for database design improvements to support business needs and enhance performance.
Assist developers with database issues and offer guidance on best practices for writing efficient SQL queries and optimizing database structures.

Monitoring and Reporting

Set up and configure monitoring tools to ensure the health and performance of database environments.
Prepare and maintain detailed reports on database performance, backup status, and recovery processes.
Provide regular updates to stakeholders on database status, maintenance schedules, and any issues that arise.

Documentation and Best Practices

Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, policies, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Establish best practices for database management and ensure they are followed across teams.
Share knowledge and mentor junior database administrators or technical staff to ensure effective collaboration.
