Job Description
We are seeking to hire a technically skilled database administrator that is capable of holding positions of great responsibility. In this role, you'll be the first respondent to database problems that arise and carry out periodic maintenance and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities
Database Management and Maintenance

Install, configure, and maintain database management systems (DBMS) to ensure optimal performance and availability.

Monitor database performance and fine-tune system parameters to ensure efficient and secure operation.

Manage database capacity planning and ensure scalability for future growth.
Backup and Recovery

Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to prevent data loss and minimize downtime.

Regularly test and validate backup procedures for disaster recovery readiness.

Ensure compliance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
Security and Access Control

Implement and maintain robust security measures to safeguard databases from unauthorized access or breaches.

Define user roles and manage permissions based on job responsibilities and data sensitivity.

Conduct audits and maintain logs to track database usage and access history.
Database Development and Support

Collaborate with developers to design, test, and implement database structures that meet application requirements.

Create and maintain stored procedures, triggers, functions, and scripts as needed.

Support data migration, ETL processes, and integration with other applications.
Monitoring and Performance Tuning

Monitor system resource usage (CPU, memory, disk I/O) and optimize query performance.

Analyze and troubleshoot database performance issues, identifying bottlenecks and implementing solutions.

Use tools like SQL Profiler, EXPLAIN plans, and third-party monitoring tools to diagnose problems.
Documentation and Reporting

Maintain detailed documentation for database configurations, procedures, standards, and best practices.

Generate regular reports on system health, storage utilization, backup status, and incident logs.

Assist in preparing compliance documentation for audits or security reviews.
Upgrades and Patch Management

Plan and execute database software upgrades and patch installations with minimal downtime.

Evaluate and test new DBMS features and functionalities before deployment in production environments.
Collaboration and Support

Work with cross-functional teams, including developers, data analysts, and IT support, to ensure smooth database operations.

Provide training or technical support to internal teams regarding database tools and processes.

Participate in on-call rotations or respond to urgent issues outside of regular business hours when necessary.
