The Database Team Lead will oversee and guide including allocation of task to a team of Senior and Junior Database Administrators (DBAs) responsible for the operational stability , performance and security of our enterprise databases across multiple platforms, including Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL. The Database Team Lead will ensure best practices are followed in database management, performance optimization, and security while fostering collaboration within the team and across the functions including application teams. This role involves both strategic planning, management, engineering, reporting and hands-on support for database infrastructure, with a focus on high availability, disaster recovery, automation, and compliance. Reporting and accountability are also key aspects of the role.
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. • 7-10+ years of experience as a DBA, with a focus on enterprise-level systems. • Experience managing and mentoring a team of DBAs, fostering skill development and collaboration. • Expertise in creating and executing strategies for database performance, scalability, and availability. • Proficiency in optimizing queries, indexing, and storage structures to enhance performance. • Strong understanding of database security practices, including encryption, access control, and vulnerability management. • Experience developing and managing DR and HA strategies, including backup and recovery processes. • Ability to work closely with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to integrate databases with applications. • Skilled in maintaining detailed documentation for compliance, configurations, security policies, and maintenance. • Experience leading database-related projects, focusing on automation, efficiency, and process improvements. • Ideally In-depth knowledge of at least two or more database platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL). • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for database automation tasks. • Familiarity with Agile practices, including Scrum or Kanban, to manage workload and prioritize tasks for the DBA team effectively. • Ability to facilitate cross-functional collaboration between DBAs, development, and operations teams in a fast-paced environment. • Experience in promoting a culture of continuous improvement within the team, leveraging feedback loops and retrospectives to optimize database management practices. • Proficiency with ITIL processes to manage intake, incidents, services and change consistency across environments.
