Job Description

THE DESIGN MANAGER (HVAC) IS RESPONSIBLE FOR OVERSEEING PLANNING AND EXECUTING HVAC (HEATING, VENTILATION. AND AIR CONDITIONING) PROJECTS FROM INCEPTION TO COMPLETION. THIS ROLE INVOLVES, MANAGING BUDGETS, SCHEDULES, RESOURCES AND TEAMS WHILE ENSURING COMPL;IANCE WITH INDUSTRY STANDARDS, SAFETY REGULATIONS, AND CLIENT

REQUIREMENTS.

EDUCATION: BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING , HVAC ENGINEERING , OR A RELATED FIELD.

EXPERIENCE: 5+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN HVAC DESIGN MANAGEMENT, WITH EXPERTISE IN COMMERCIAL HVAC SYSTEMS.

CERTIFICATIONS: PMP, LEED, OR HVAC-RELATED CERTICATIONS ARE PREFERRED.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Management:
- Lead and manage a team of HVAC design engineers and draftsmen, ensuring that the team is motivated, well-trained, and equipped to meet project goals.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to the design team, reviewing their work, providing feedback, and fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Oversee the allocation of resources, setting clear priorities, and ensuring that project deadlines are met.
HVAC System Design:
- Lead the design and development of HVAC systems for commercial, residential, and industrial projects.
- Create detailed HVAC system designs, including load calculations, ductwork design, piping, and ventilation systems.
- Ensure that HVAC designs are energy-efficient, cost-effective, and meet regulatory standards, as well as client-specific requirements.
Project Coordination:
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure that HVAC designs are implemented correctly and efficiently.
- Review project specifications, contracts, and drawings to ensure design feasibility and alignment with project objectives.
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring that each project is progressing on time and within budget.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all local and international codes and standards related to HVAC design, such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, and LEED certifications.
- Conduct regular quality checks to verify that designs meet internal standards and client expectations.
- Ensure that design work adheres to safety, environmental, and energy efficiency standards.
Client Interaction & Presentation:
- Communicate with clients to understand their requirements, present design solutions, and provide technical support.
- Prepare design presentations and proposals, explaining complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
- Address client concerns, and provide recommendations on improvements or changes to HVAC systems.
Cost Estimation & Budget Management:
- Work with project managers and estimators to provide cost estimates for HVAC designs and solutions.
- Optimize HVAC system designs to reduce costs while maintaining performance and energy efficiency.
- Track design-related costs and ensure that designs stay within budget.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation:
- Stay updated on the latest developments and technologies in the HVAC industry, including energy-efficient systems, automation, and smart building integration.
- Research and implement best practices and innovative solutions in HVAC design to improve system performance, reduce energy consumption, and enhance client satisfaction.
- Provide leadership in exploring new market opportunities, products, and design methodologies.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation and submission of design documentation, including detailed drawings, calculations, and reports.
- Maintain accurate records of design changes, approvals, and revisions.
- Provide regular status updates and progress reports to senior management.
