Job Description
To ensure success as a DevOps engineer, you should ensure that all outputs remain safe for public consumption. Ultimately, a top-notch DevOps engineer will demonstrate excellent leadership skills and the capacity to mentor junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
1. Infrastructure Automation & Configuration Management
-
Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.

Automate provisioning, configuration, and management of servers, databases, and networking components.

Build and maintain infrastructure templates to support new services and environments.
2. CI/CD Pipeline Development
-
Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or CircleCI.

Integrate automated testing and deployment processes to ensure smooth release cycles.

Collaborate with development teams to define branching strategies, build configurations, and release standards.
3. Cloud Infrastructure Management
-
Deploy, monitor, and maintain cloud-based environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).

Ensure scalability, availability, and performance of production and staging environments.

Optimize cloud usage to maintain cost-efficiency and performance across environments.
4. Monitoring, Logging & Performance Tuning
-
Implement and manage logging and monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Datadog, New Relic).

Set up alerts and dashboards to proactively detect issues and performance bottlenecks.

Analyze metrics and logs to troubleshoot issues and improve overall system health.
5. Security, Backup & Compliance

Apply security best practices in CI/CD and cloud infrastructure (e.g., IAM policies, secrets management).

Automate regular backups and disaster recovery procedures.

Ensure compliance with data protection and industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2).
6. Collaboration & Support
-
Work closely with software engineers, QA testers, product managers, and security teams to ensure deployment and operational requirements are met.

Support developers with tools and environments needed for effective code delivery.
-
Provide on-call support for critical production systems when needed.
