Job Description

Job Title: Draftsman

Job Summary: A highly motivated and detail-oriented Draftsman is required to create detailed technical drawings and plans used in various industries, including construction, engineering, and manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have experience using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software to generate accurate and clear designs that meet project specifications and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Create Technical Drawings:

Prepare detailed drawings and plans based on sketches, specifications, and instructions provided by engineers, architects, or designers.
Draft technical drawings for building structures, mechanical parts, electrical systems, or other types of infrastructure.
Produce 2D and 3D models using CAD software

Collaboration and Coordination:

Work closely with engineers, architects, or project managers to ensure drawings meet project requirements and specifications.
Make revisions to designs as required, incorporating feedback and ensuring accuracy.
Communicate with team members to clarify details or resolve technical issues.

Quality Assurance:

Ensure all drawings are accurate, complete, and conform to industry standards and regulations.
Maintain an organized file system for both electronic and paper copies of designs.
Verify that all drawings comply with legal requirements and safety standards.

Project Support:

Assist in the preparation of material lists, specifications, and other technical documents related to the design.
Participate in site visits or inspections to gather data or resolve design issues on-site.

Maintenance of Design Databases:

Update and maintain CAD libraries and reference materials for use in future projects.
Keep track of design changes and revisions, ensuring proper version control.

Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Skills:
- Proficient in using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or other relevant programs.
- Familiar with design principles, drafting techniques, and industry-specific standards.
- Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) standards.
Attention to Detail:
- Ability to produce accurate and high-quality drawings with a keen eye for detail.
Problem-Solving Abilities:
- Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve design discrepancies and challenges.
Education and Experience:
- A degree or certification in Drafting, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience as a Draftsman or in a similar role in engineering, construction, or manufacturing industries is an asset.

Working Conditions:

Full-time position, Monday through Friday (may vary depending on the employer).
Office or on-site work, depending on the nature of the project.
Occasional travel to project sites for measurements or consultations.

Salary: Competitive based on experience.
