Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Testing and Commissioning of Electrical Systems:
-
Perform routine and advanced electrical testing on equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, protection relays, switchgear (HT/LT), motors, bus bars, power/control cables, and energy meters.

Conduct primary and secondary injection testing of protection relays.
-
Carry out insulation resistance tests (megger), contact resistance tests, HV testing, polarity checks, and earth testing.
2. System Start-up and Commissioning Activities:
-
Oversee the energization of substations, panels, or electrical equipment after verifying safety and readiness.

Commission control panels, synchronizing panels, PLCs, and SCADA interfaces, ensuring integration with system networks.

Identify and resolve defects or operational issues during commissioning, ensuring the system is functioning per design specifications.
3. Documentation and Reporting:
-
Prepare and maintain detailed testing and commissioning reports, checklists, and logbooks.

Record equipment settings, calibration values, test results, and as-built configurations for submission to clients or project managers.

Maintain and archive all testing documentation in accordance with project requirements and regulatory compliance.
4. Safety and Compliance:
-
Follow and enforce all electrical safety protocols as per national and international standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, IS, OSHA).

Ensure safe working practices during live testing, HV energization, and coordination with other trades.

Participate in safety toolbox talks, risk assessments, and permit-to-work systems.
5. Team Coordination and Client Communication:
-
Coordinate with installation teams, design engineers, site supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure readiness for testing.

Liaise with project consultants, utility companies, and clients during inspection, testing, and approvals.

Attend technical meetings and provide expert input on electrical commissioning schedules and challenges.
6. Equipment Calibration and Maintenance:
-
Ensure that testing equipment and tools are calibrated, certified, and functioning properly.
-
Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of testing devices as required.

Maintain inventory and manage tools in compliance with QA/QC practices.
