Job Description
IIM Calcutta invites application for Admission in Fellow (Doctoral /Ph.D) Programme Commecing June 2018.
The Fellow Programme in Management includes the following: specializations: Economics, Finance & Control, Human Resource Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing, Operations Management, Organizational Behavior, Public Policy & Management, and Strategic Management.
The Fellow Programme in Disciplines Related to Management includes the following specializations: Operations Research & Systems Analysis, Regional Development, and Sociology.
On successful completion of the Programme, a student is awarded the title of a Fellow of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta in his/her area of specialization. The title is recognized by the Association of Indian Universities and by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, as being equivalent to a Ph.D. degree of an accredited university.
Eligibility: An applicant to the
Fellow Programme is required to have: Either First Class Master's
degree in any discipline or CA/CS/CMA with minimum 55% marks and a
three-year Bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks in the aggregate;
OR First Class Bachelor's degree in Engineering. In addition, the
applicant must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate in
either the Secondary or the Higher Secondary Examination of a Board (or
equivalent). A final-year student appearing for the Bachelor's degree
examination in Engineering or Master's degree examination in any
discipline can also apply. Such a candidate, if selected, will be
provisionally admitted provided
(s)he completes all requirements for obtaining the degree before 30th
June, 2017. Admission of the candidate will remain provisional until
(s)he produces mark sheets proving that (s)he satisfies the eligibility
criteria. The deadline for submitting the final year degree mark sheets
is 31st December, 2017.
Financial Support : The Institute provides substantial financial support to FP students.No tuition fee is charged. Currently, each student is given a stipend that starts at
Rs. 27,000 per month and goes up to Rs. 30,000 per month. In addition, a contingency grant of
Rs. 25,000 per year with an additional computer grant of Rs. 40,000 is also provided in the first year. These grants can be used to buy books, conduct field research, and to attend academic conferences. The stipend and contingency grants are given for four years, and can be extended for up to one more year on demonstration of satisfactory progress in dissertation work. Additional financial support is available in the form of extra funds of up to
Rs. 50,000 for field research. Moreover, students can take up teaching assistantships as and when available, that pay up to
Rs. 11,000 per month (in addition to the stipend). The Institute also provides full financial support to students to attend up to three international conferences. Students can also participate in one international workshop in lieu of a conference.
