Overview:
A Field Sales Engineer is responsible for selling technical products and solutions to businesses, manufacturers, and industrial clients. This role requires both sales expertise and technical knowledge to understand customer needs, propose appropriate solutions, and ensure customer satisfaction. Field Sales Engineers work in various industries, including electronics, automation, manufacturing, energy, and telecommunications.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sales & Business Development:
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within assigned territories or industries.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers, distributors, and key decision-makers.
- Generate leads through cold calling, networking, and attending industry events.
- Conduct product presentations, demonstrations, and technical discussions with clients.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and sales terms to close deals successfully.
- Meet and exceed sales targets and revenue goals.
2. Technical Consultation & Support:
- Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable products or solutions.
- Provide pre-sales technical support, including system design, configuration, and product selection.
- Assist customers with troubleshooting, application guidance, and problem-solving.
- Collaborate with the engineering and product development teams to address customer-specific needs.
- Offer post-sales support to ensure product performance and customer satisfaction.
3. Market Research & Strategy:
- Analyze market trends, competition, and customer preferences to develop sales strategies.
- Gather customer feedback and provide insights to the product development team for potential improvements.
- Identify gaps in the market and suggest new product opportunities.
- Develop and implement sales plans to expand the company’s presence in the market.
4. Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and project details.
- Prepare sales reports, forecasts, and presentations for management.
- Use CRM tools to track sales leads, pipeline, and customer data.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
