Field Sales Manager
Job Description: The Field Sales Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing the field sales team. This position requires strong sales management skills, excellent communication, and the ability to drive sales performance in a dynamic and competitive environment. The Field Sales Manager plays a crucial role in achieving their individual targets as well as the team sales targets, expanding the customer base, and ensuring customer satisfaction. The manager must also be ready to do various field marketing activities that include door-to-door marketing as well as Lead generation.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Sales Team Management: Lead, coach, and manage the field sales team, which may include sales executives, representatives, or account managers. Set sales targets, provide guidance, monitor performance, and conduct regular performance reviews. Take responsibility of sales team performance.
1. Sales Strategy Development: Collaborate with the sales leadership team to develop and implement sales strategies aligned with business objectives. Identify market opportunities, define target segments, and design action plans to achieve sales targets.
2. Territory Management: Allocate sales territories to the team members and define sales coverage plans. Monitor territory performance, identify growth opportunities, and adjust sales resources as needed.
3. Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with key clients and high-value accounts. Support the team in managing client relationships, addressing customer concerns, and identifying upselling or cross-selling opportunities.
4. Sales Training and Development: Identify training needs of the field sales team and coordinate training programs to enhance their sales skills, product knowledge, and customer engagement. Provide ongoing coaching and support to improve performance.
5. Sales Forecasting and Reporting: Collect and analyse sales data, including sales pipelines, forecasts, and market trends. Prepare reports for management, providing insights on sales performance, areas for improvement, and growth opportunities. Review, and modify performance of marketing initiatives.
6. Market Intelligence: Plan and complete field marketing campaigns. Stay updated on industry trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities. Conduct market research, analyse customer needs, and provide feedback to the sales leadership team to inform sales strategies.
7. Field Sales Operations: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as marketing, operations, and customer service, to ensure seamless execution of field sales activities. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to resolve customer issues and enhance customer experience.
8. Sales Performance Analysis: Analyse sales performance metrics, including conversion rates, average deal size, and sales cycle length. Identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement to optimize sales processes and drive productivity.
9. Travel and Field Work: Willingness to travel extensively to meet clients, attend industry events, and explore new markets. Work closely with the sales team in the field, supporting them, and resolving any challenges that arise.
10. Sales Target Achievement: The sales target will be set for each location. The sales manager and the sales representatives will work together to achieve these targets. If the team fails to meet their goals, the manager should take responsibility for ensuring that the targets are met on behalf of the team.
11. Individual Involvement: The field sales manager must personally be involved in all necessary marketing activities. This includes door-to-door marketing, distributing brochures and flyers face-to-face, managing kiosk marketing, and participating in event marketing, conduct field marketing campaigns by being actively involved, the manager can ensure the effectiveness of these initiatives and foster stronger connections with potential customers.
12. Individual Assignments: targets will be assigned to the field sales manager in addition to the team targets. These targets are expected to be achieved monthly basis. The field manager should maintain records for generating his own leads and converting those leads into business. Field sales manager must be willing to work individually without the team members allotted under him/her. The manager must also be ready to do various field marketing activities that include door-to-door marketing as well as Lead generation.
13. Ownership: The field manager should assume a pivotal role by taking on dual responsibilities in situations where team members are not available. This involves not only overseeing day-to-day operations but also actively participating in hands-on tasks that are typically delegated to team members. By stepping into these roles, the field manager ensures that objectives are met and maintains productivity. This proactive approach demonstrates leadership and adaptability, fostering a strong work ethic and a sense of accountability even in challenging circumstances.
14. Attend Relevant Trade Shows and Events: Participate in trade shows and events by giving presentations and demonstrations that highlight the value of our products. This engagement will help to showcase our offerings and connect with potential customers.
15. Cross-Functional Collaboration: The marketing executive plays a crucial role in collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that marketing efforts align seamlessly with sales and product development goals. This collaboration is essential for creating cohesive strategies that effectively reach target audiences.
Qualifications:
1. Education: any degree
2. Must have a valid driving license along with a two-wheeler or four-wheeler vehicle.
3. Sales Management Skills: Strong leadership and sales management skills, with the ability to motivate and drive a field sales team to achieve results.
4. Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with clients, colleagues, and management effectively.
5. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to analyse sales data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
