Job Summary
A Housekeeping Attendant is responsible for ensuring the overall cleanliness, orderliness, and appearance of the facility or establishment they are assigned to. This role plays a key part in maintaining a welcoming and sanitary environment for guests, residents, patients, or employees. The Housekeeping Attendant works in various settings, including hotels, resorts, hospitals, care homes, offices, and other commercial or residential properties. The primary goal is to provide high-quality cleaning services and promote a comfortable, safe, and pleasant environment for everyone.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cleaning and Servicing Rooms and Areas

Clean and tidy guest rooms, patient rooms, or assigned areas according to established cleanliness standards and procedures.

Make beds, change sheets, replace used towels, and restock guest amenities like soap, shampoo, tissues, and water.

Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in rooms, corridors, and public spaces.

Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and decorative items.

Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces for a spotless appearance.

Empty trash bins and replace liners.

Sanitize bathrooms thoroughly, including toilets, sinks, showers, bathtubs, and counters.
2. Maintenance of Public and Common Areas

Ensure lobbies, hallways, staircases, elevators, lounges, restrooms, and reception areas are kept clean and tidy at all times.

Disinfect high-touch areas such as doorknobs, light switches, elevator buttons, and handrails regularly.

Ensure public restrooms are cleaned, stocked, and sanitized frequently.
3. Laundry Duties (If Applicable)

Collect dirty linens, towels, and uniforms from guest rooms or laundry bins.

Sort, wash, dry, fold, and iron laundry items using proper laundry procedures.

Return clean linens and uniforms to appropriate storage or designated areas.
4. Inventory and Supply Management
-
Restock housekeeping carts and supply closets with cleaning materials, toiletries, towels, and linens.

Report shortages or low stock levels to the supervisor.

Keep track of supplies used and ensure minimal waste.
5. Safety and Maintenance Reporting
-
Use cleaning chemicals safely and follow all safety instructions and guidelines.

Handle housekeeping equipment (vacuum cleaners, floor polishers, etc.) responsibly and ensure they are maintained in good working condition.

Report any maintenance issues or hazards such as broken furniture, leaky faucets, or faulty lighting promptly to the maintenance or housekeeping supervisor.
6. Customer Service and Interaction

Greet guests, residents, or clients politely when encountered during cleaning rounds.

Respond to guest requests for extra linens, amenities, or cleaning services courteously and efficiently.

Respect the privacy of guests by honoring “Do Not Disturb” signs and handling personal belongings with care.

Notify the supervisor if valuables or unusual items are found during cleaning.
