Job Description – IT Infrastructure Administrator (APPRENTICESHIP/INTERNSHIP)

Key Responsibilities
1. System and Network Support
-
Assist in the monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of servers, networks, and IT systems.

Support the configuration and installation of network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.

Help maintain and update system documentation, network diagrams, and asset inventories.

Respond to and resolve basic network connectivity issues under supervision.
2. User Support and Service Desk

Provide first-level support to end-users regarding hardware, software, and network issues.

Assist in managing service tickets, documenting incidents, and escalating complex problems to senior IT staff.

Help install and configure desktop and laptop computers, printers, and other peripheral devices.

Contribute to onboarding and offboarding procedures by setting up user accounts, email access, and permissions.
3. Server and Data Center Operations

Assist with routine server maintenance tasks, including system updates, backups, and patch management.

Learn how to monitor server performance and perform diagnostics to detect potential issues.

Help support virtualization environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud-based infrastructure (e.g., Microsoft Azure or AWS).
4. IT Security and Compliance

Support the enforcement of security policies and best practices across IT systems.

Assist in the identification and resolution of vulnerabilities or risks within the infrastructure.

Learn about data protection protocols, user access control, and compliance standards like GDPR or ISO 27001.
5. Project Support

Participate in infrastructure projects, such as system upgrades, network expansions, or software deployments.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and timelines.

Conduct research and provide recommendations for new tools, solutions, or technologies.
