Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Leadership:

Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate, engaging, and aligned with school curriculum and learning standards.

Create a classroom environment that fosters student engagement, critical thinking, collaboration, and a love for learning.

Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and styles of students, including those with learning differences or English language learners.

Assess student performance through observations, tests, quizzes, projects, and other formative and summative assessments.

Use assessment data to inform instructional decisions and tailor lessons to meet academic goals.

Classroom Management:

Establish and maintain clear expectations for student behavior to promote a positive, respectful, and safe learning environment.

Implement consistent routines and procedures that support classroom organization and student independence.

Manage classroom transitions, time-on-task, and student interactions to maximize instructional time.

Handle conflicts or behavioral issues in accordance with school policies and with an emphasis on restorative practices and positive reinforcement.

Curriculum Development and Implementation:

Collaborate with fellow teachers and curriculum coordinators to develop and refine curriculum materials and instructional strategies.

Integrate technology and hands-on learning opportunities into the curriculum to enhance student learning.

Stay current with educational trends, best practices, and research to continuously improve instructional delivery.

Adapt curriculum to include multicultural perspectives and ensure inclusivity and equity in all lessons and materials.

Mentorship and Supervision:

Supervise and provide guidance to assistant teachers, student teachers, or classroom aides.

Delegate responsibilities appropriately, ensuring that support staff are effectively contributing to classroom goals.

Provide feedback and mentorship to team members to promote professional growth and cohesive teamwork.

Act as a role model in professionalism, ethical behavior, and enthusiasm for education.

Parent and Community Engagement:

Maintain open and consistent communication with parents and guardians through conferences, progress reports, newsletters, and informal updates.

Collaborate with families to support student development both academically and socially.

Participate in school events, parent-teacher meetings, open houses, and extracurricular activities.

Record Keeping and Reporting:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, academic progress, behavioral incidents, and other relevant documentation.

Submit lesson plans, grades, and reports as required by school administration.

Monitor student progress and implement intervention strategies for students who are not meeting benchmarks.

Comply with all legal, ethical, and institutional requirements, including confidentiality standards and child protection laws.
