Key Responsibilities
1. Masonry Work Execution
-
Lay bricks, concrete blocks, stone, and similar materials to construct or repair walls, partitions, chimneys, and other structures.

Mix and apply mortar, cement, or grout to bind materials and fill joints between them.

Shape and cut bricks, blocks, or stones using hand tools, power tools, or masonry equipment.

Apply plaster, render, and screed to walls and ceilings where required.
2. Reading Drawings and Measurements
-
Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical specifications.

Measure distances, mark guidelines, and calculate layout based on design.
-
Ensure accurate alignment and level of work using plumb bobs, levels, and measuring tapes.
3. Structural and Finishing Work
-
Construct foundations, arches, steps, patios, walkways, retaining walls, and floor surfaces.

Perform pointing, re-pointing, and surface finishing of brick or stone structures.
-
Repair damaged masonry structures and replace broken materials.
-
Waterproof or weatherproof masonry structures as needed.
4. Safety and Site Compliance
-
Follow safety procedures and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times on site.

Operate tools and equipment safely and responsibly.

Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents or material loss.

Report any unsafe conditions or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor immediately.
5. Coordination and Teamwork
-
Work collaboratively with other tradespeople, including carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and laborers, to complete projects efficiently.

Assist with material handling, setup of scaffolding or work platforms, and site preparation.

Take instructions from the foreman or engineer and follow them precisely.
