Role: Patent Illustrator
Location: Gurugram/ Nagpur
Working Days in a week: 5 days
Qualification: B.E./ B.Tech/ Diploma (Mechanical) | AutoCAD (2D/3D) certification or strong knowledge required
Timing: 9:30 AM – 6:30 PM
What You'll Do
- Create illustrations for patent applications (USPTO, EPO, PCT, etc.)
- Convert technical descriptions & sketches into professional drawings
Skills Needed
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D/3D), Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDraw, Catia
- Knowledge of shading & sketching
- A proactive & positive attitude

Key Responsibilities:

Creation of Patent Illustrations:
-
Prepare precise, detailed, and accurate illustrations to accompany patent applications, ensuring they meet all relevant standards and requirements.

Produce technical drawings that clearly depict the features, functions, and structures of inventions or innovations.

Work with inventors and patent attorneys to understand the technical details of inventions to accurately depict them in illustrations.

Technical Drawing & Drafting:
-
Create both 2D and 3D technical drawings using CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other patent-specific drawing tools.
-
Ensure that illustrations convey all required details and information, including dimensions, cross-sections, exploded views, and functional aspects of the invention.

Utilize appropriate line thicknesses, shading, and views (e.g., perspective, front, side) to accurately represent complex technical objects.

Patent Standards Compliance:
-
Follow international patent office guidelines, including USPTO, EPO, and WIPO standards for creating patent drawings.

Ensure that drawings adhere to legal requirements such as drawing size, labeling conventions, and clarity of technical details.

Maintain knowledge of evolving patent laws and requirements to ensure compliance with the latest guidelines and best practices.

Collaboration with Legal and Engineering Teams:

Work closely with patent attorneys, examiners, and engineers to understand the technical aspects of inventions and to clarify any doubts or questions regarding the invention’s features.

Collaborate with patent examiners to make any necessary revisions or adjustments to patent illustrations based on feedback.

Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure that the drawings accurately reflect the invention.

Document Management:

Organize, maintain, and manage patent illustration files and ensure proper version control.

Submit final illustrations to the patent office as part of patent application packages.

Ensure that all drawings are labeled correctly and that they match the specifications outlined in patent application forms and documents.

Revisions and Updates:

Revise and update illustrations as needed to incorporate any changes or improvements to the invention during the patent process.

Modify drawings based on feedback from inventors, patent attorneys, or patent offices to ensure the illustrations meet the desired quality and detail.

Support Patent Filing Process:

Assist in preparing and formatting patent documents for submission to patent offices.

Ensure all required elements, including references to figures and illustrations, are included in the final patent application package.

Quality Control & Accuracy:

Double-check all patent illustrations to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness before submission.

Ensure that drawings are free of errors and comply with both technical and legal requirements.
