Requirement: Quality Inspector
Fields: Casting, Machining, and Sheet Metal
Educational Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities
General Quality Control
-
Perform in-process and final inspections of components from casting, machining, and sheet metal departments.

Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and engineering specifications.

Use a range of inspection tools such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, dial indicators, CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), and surface roughness testers.

Verify dimensional accuracy, surface finish, material condition, and tolerance limits of the parts.

Identify and segregate non-conforming parts and escalate issues to the concerned department.
Casting Inspection
-
Inspect raw castings for defects such as porosity, shrinkage, cracks, and inclusions.

Ensure adherence to casting standards, patterns, and dimensional requirements.

Work closely with the foundry or casting vendors to monitor the quality of outsourced parts.

Monitor sand and die-casting parameters if required and inspect gating, risers, and surface integrity.
Machining Inspection
-
Check precision-machined components for tolerances, alignment, and finish.

Verify operations such as turning, milling, drilling, and grinding against design requirements.

Conduct inspections during multiple machining stages to detect defects early in the process.

Confirm thread quality, bore concentricity, and other critical dimensions.
Sheet Metal Inspection

Inspect cut, bent, punched, or welded sheet metal components for accuracy and quality.

Check bending angles, flatness, hole alignment, and edge finish.

Ensure welds are clean, uniform, and meet quality standards through visual and destructive/non-destructive testing.

Validate fabrication against design drawings and assembly tolerances.
