Senior-level DBA responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of at least two of the following database platforms Oracle, SQL Server, Postgresql & mySQL. Ensuring security best practices across infrastructure and databases, including encryption, access controls, and vulnerability management. Key Responsibilities: Managing the performance, scalability, and security of databases, handling disaster recovery (DR), high availability (HA), backups, patching, and database automation. Monitor database performance and optimize queries, indexing, and storage structures. Analyze and resolve performance issues. Develop and manage backup strategies to ensure data integrity and availability. Manage user access controls. Collaborate with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth integration of database systems with applications. Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, maintenance schedules, security policies, and incident logs. Lead database-related projects and initiatives. Implementing security measures for both automated infrastructure and database environments, automating vulnerability scans, and handling compliance. Ensure security best practices are followed in the development pipeline, including vulnerability scanning and automated security testing.
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. • 5-10+ years of experience as a DBA, with a focus on enterprise-level systems. • Experience leading complex database projects and managing large databases (terabyte-scale). • Expertise in database technologies (SQL/NoSQL) and platforms (Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL). • Advanced skills in query analysis, optimization, and index management to improve database performance. • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) to automate database tasks like backups and monitoring. • Knowledge of database security practices, including encryption, access control, and auditing. • Skills in designing and managing high-availability and disaster recovery systems. • Able to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams, explaining complex database issues in simple terms. • Installation, configuration, and upgrading of Oracle, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, and MySQL databases across multiple platforms. • Performance tuning and optimization (SQL queries, indexes, storage optimization) across all database systems. • Database backup, recovery planning, and implementation using RMAN (Oracle), SQL Server Backup, pg_dump (PostgreSQL), and mysqldump. • Experience in High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies, including Oracle RAC, MSSQL AlwaysOn, PostgreSQL replication, and MySQL clustering. • Database security management, including role-based access control, encryption, and auditing in Oracle, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, and MySQL. • Data migration and upgrade planning between database versions and across different database platforms (Oracle to MSSQL, MySQL to PostgreSQL, etc.). • SQL code review and development support for complex queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers. • Management of large-scale databases, including partitioning (Oracle, MSSQL) and sharding (PostgreSQL, MySQL). • Database capacity planning and performance forecasting, ensuring adequate resources for future growth. • Expertise in setting up and maintaining database monitoring tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), pgAdmin, and MySQL Workbench. • Database patch management and maintenance, applying updates and patches with minimal downtime. • Supporting development teams in Agile environments, collaborating on database design, development, and testing strategies. • Automating database administration tasks using shell scripts, PowerShell, or database-specific automation tools (Oracle SQL*Plus, PostgreSQL pgScript, etc.). • Experience with cloud-based database services (Oracle Cloud, AWS RDS, Azure SQL) for Oracle, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, and MySQL. • Providing technical leadership in database architecture and administration.
