Ed.) from a NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education) recognized institution. OR Post Graduate degree with 45% marks in relevant subject and obtained B. Ed degree (as per NCTE Regulations. 2002 or NCTE Regulations. 2007) from NCTE recognized Institutions. OR  . Post Graduate Degree in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks (or its equivalent) from recognized university and B. A. Ed. /B.Sc. Ed. from any NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education ) recognized institution.

Qualification : Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (or one year Diploma in Education obtained prior to 2005) by whatever name known. OR Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.). OR Graduation with of least 45% marks and Bachelor in Education (B. Ed.). in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard. OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-years Bachelor in Elementary Education (B. El. Ed.). OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-years B.A. / B. Sc. Ed or B.A. Ed / B. Sc. Ed. OR Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor in Education (B. Ed.) (Special Education).

Subsequently it was bifurcated as Directorate of Welfare for Scheduled Tribes and Directorate of Welfare for Scheduled Castes in 1982.The Department of Tribal Welfare is the Nodal Department for the overall policy,planning and coordination of programmes for development of Scheduled Tribes.
