Key Responsibilities
Transport and Delivery
-
Operate and drive trailer trucks or articulated heavy vehicles to transport goods to specified destinations.

Deliver cargo according to schedule, following pre-defined routes and delivery protocols.

Load and unload goods using proper lifting techniques or mechanical equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks.

Ensure that the load is properly secured and balanced to avoid accidents or damage.
Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance
-
Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including tires, lights, brakes, and fluid levels.

Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to the fleet supervisor or maintenance team.

Ensure cleanliness and basic upkeep of the trailer and cab at all times.

Comply with service schedules and participate in preventative maintenance activities.
Documentation and Record-Keeping
-
Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery records, and inspection reports as per company and regulatory standards.

Handle delivery receipts, invoices, bills of lading, and other necessary paperwork.

Use GPS and electronic logging devices (ELDs) to track hours of service (HOS) and route data.
Compliance and Safety

Adhere to all road and transportation regulations, including those set by traffic authorities and local transportation departments.

Follow company policies regarding speed limits, rest breaks, and maximum hours of driving.

Use appropriate safety equipment such as reflective gear, helmets, and seat belts.

Maintain a defensive driving approach to minimize risk on highways and in urban areas.
Customer Interaction

Represent the company in a professional manner when interacting with clients or delivery recipients.

Ensure timely communication regarding any delivery delays, route changes, or issues encountered during transit.

Obtain customer signatures, delivery confirmations, or digital proofs of delivery when required.
