Job Description
Job Overview:
A Waiter is responsible for providing excellent customer service, taking food and beverage orders, serving meals, and ensuring a pleasant dining experience for guests. The role requires attentiveness, good communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant or hospitality environment.
- Greet customers and hand out menus.
- Take meal and beverage orders from customers and place these orders in the kitchen.
- Make menu recommendations and inform patrons of any specials.
- Deliver meals and beverages to tables when they have been prepared.
- Check that customers are satisfied with their meal.
- Prepare the bill for tables when requested.
- Carry dirty plates, glasses and silverware to kitchen for cleaning .
- Follow all relevant health department regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Customer Service & Order Taking:
- Greet guests warmly and escort them to their tables.
- Present menus, explain dishes, and make recommendations.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders and relay them to the kitchen.
- Answer customer inquiries about ingredients, allergens, and preparation methods.
2. Food & Beverage Service:
- Serve food and drinks promptly and professionally.
- Ensure that orders are delivered correctly and meet quality standards.
- Check with guests to ensure satisfaction and promptly address any issues.
- Clear tables, refill drinks, and assist guests as needed.
3. Cleanliness & Organization:
- Maintain a clean and organized dining area, including tables and chairs.
- Follow hygiene and sanitation standards in food handling and service.
- Arrange tables, set up cutlery, napkins, and condiments before service.
4. Payment Handling & Billing:
- Provide guests with bills and process payments through cash, card, or digital transactions.
- Issue receipts and thank customers for their visit.
5. Teamwork & Coordination:
- Work closely with kitchen staff and bartenders to ensure smooth service.
- Assist colleagues when needed, especially during busy hours.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and managers.
